    CAPOEIRA
    Martial Art from Brazil

Black Belt magazine, Oct 1978, William Moore

[..] In Washington, D.C. (far right), the Smithsonian Institute brought four leading teachers of capoeira from Brazil in 1976 to participate in the annual Folklore Festival held in front of the Lincoln Memorial. Representing three generations of teachers, the men (from left to right) are Eliseu [Elísio], Gato, Saci and Gatinho. Note the "berimbau", a one-stringed African instrument always used in capoeira.
