1925 - Was born on 25th March.
1962 - On 26th December founded the Academia de Capoeira Angola Cinco Estrelas in the backyard of Mr Mane Jegue's house with more than 40 students, both children and adults. Taught capoeira in Dique do Tororó for more than 50 years giving graduation to great capoeiristas such as M Moa do Katendê and M Lua de Bobó, two first graduated masters.
1979 - After M Pastinha distanced himself from the “19”, in Pelourinho, M Pastinha, sick and practically without eyesight needed someone to play the instrument for capoeira in the new room at "51", also in Pelourinho. So, José Luiz invited Mestre Bobó, who went there, giving continuity to the work for some time.
1985 - The mestre went to the United States passing by Los Angeles and New York, to participate in a festival. Source
1987 - On the 5th April he made his first generation of capoeira masters: Mestre Môa do Katendê and Mestre Lua do Bobó. From then on Mestre Môa started to teach capoeira angola in the Academia de Capoeira Angola 5 Estrelas, which at that time was in the Clube de Regatas Vasco da Gama.
1988 - Participated in the 2° Batismo de Capoeira Palmares Sul, in Florianópolis (listen to the audio above).
1989 - Participated on the CD of M Jelon Vieira called Capoeira: Afro-Brazilian Art Form together with M João Pequeno and M João Grande. (listen to track 1 above).
1994 - Died on 8th July.
