The ABC of M Bimba
1899 - Was born in the neighborhood of Engenho Velho, Salvador, Bahia on 23rd November, son of Luiz Cândido Machado and Maria Martinha do Bonfim.
1911 - Started to learn capoeira with an african Bentinho, captain of Cia. de Navegação Bahiana.
1913 - Enrolled in the candomblé of senhor Vidal, a shrine of the Ketu nation, that operated in theEngenho Velho de Brotas.
1918 - Created capoeira Regional.
1919 - Became an ogã.
1928 - Gave a show to Juracy Magalhães, the governor of Bahia.
1932 - Founded Academia-escola de Cultura Regional, in Engenho de Brotas in Salvador, Bahia.
1936 - Started to challenge other fighters to the ring called Odeon on Praça da Sé.
1937 - Registered his academy on 9th June.
1940 - Was recorded by Lorenzo Turner (listen above).
1942 - Opened his second academy in Terreiro de Jesus on Rua das Laranjeiras.
1952 - In June gave a show to Getúlio Vargas, the president of Brazil.
1954 - Participated in the recording of the Vadiação film.
1969 - Participated in the film Dança de Guerra and in the recording of its LP (listen above).
1973 - Moved to Goiânia.
1974 - Died in Goiânia on 5th February.
