ABC of M Canjiquinha
1925 - Was born on 25th September, son of a tailor José Bruno da Silva and a washing-woman Amália Maria da Conceição, on R. Maciel de Baixo n° 6, Salvador.
1935-1942 - Learned with M Raimundo Aberrê in Matatu Pequeno, in Baixa de Tubo, Brotas.
1942/44 - Started to work in for the Town Hall, first as a landscaper, later as a mimeograph.
1950 - Was M Pastinha's contra-mestre.
1951 - Was Ipiranga's striker.
1954 - Started to teach capoeira.
1955 - Married Ivone.
1959 - Traveled to Rio de Janeiro and Porto Alegre with M Pastinha and his students. Also gave many exhibitions in the following years.
1960 - On 24th October was recorded by Janice Marie Smith (listen above).
1962 - Participated in films O Pagador de Promessas and Barravento.
1963 - Taught in Naval Base.
1965 - His daughter Juciara Bruno was born.
1970 - Participated in the event Berimbau de Ouro in Fonte Nova, Salvador.
1981 - Participated in the event Troféu Mestre Canjiquinha in São Paulo.
1984 - Participated in the great event in Rio with other old masters.
1986 - Recorded the CD with M Waldemar.
1988 - Wrote the book A Alegria da Capoeira, which was published in 1989. In 1988 he also created the Academia de Canjiquinha e Seus Amigos, in Colina do Mar neighborhood.
1994 - Died on 8th November.
