SALVADOR, 30 (Araguaya F. Martins and Francisco de Carvalho Henriques, special envoys) - After we concluded the articles about petrol in the Bahian bay area, we arranged to hear from a people's man about the state monopoly issue. This opportunity arose when we met the engineer Fernando Santana who was watching mestre Waldemar's capoeira, on the Pero Vaz street, on the Liberdade Road. [caption of the photo to the right] This is Bahia. Tradition and progress walk side by side. At the back, a shrine covered with palm leaves where the young bahians play capoeira. In the first row, a bunch of guys listen to the football game on the radio. In Liberdade, Salvador, the Sundays are like that. But, if there's a commission in defence of Petrobrás, all these people go down the slope to applaud brave fighters such as Fernando Santana or the old Oscar Cordeiro who, to the example of Manuel Inacio Bastos, has contributed a lot to extract petrol from the Brazilian soil
